Inbound webhooks
Choose an event source, configure a target and track delivery.
On this page
Choose an event source
Inbound webhooks receive external events and submit work in a configured Environment. They do not send outbound Run notifications. The ingress, authentication, mapping and delivery receipts are shared with interactive Sandpi; Platform targets submit ordinary headless Runs.
| Source | Use it for | Sender authentication | Event identity |
|---|---|---|---|
| GitHub events | PR review, Issue tasks, comment commands and CI diagnosis | GitHub HMAC signature | GitHub delivery headers and body digest |
| Parseable alerts | Alert investigation and recovery | Basic, username sandpi | Alert labels and state transitions |
| Grafana / Alertmanager | Alert investigation and recovery | Grafana native HMAC, bearer or Basic; Alertmanager bearer or Basic | Labels, occurrence start time and terminal state |
| Custom JSON | CI, deployment, monitoring or your own service | HMAC, bearer, or explicit public mode | Sender-provided idempotency key |
Use a built-in integration when its event semantics match your sender. Use a generic trigger for a service that can implement Sandpi’s JSON and delivery protocol. Built-in integrations do not require you to build a forwarding service.
Prepare the execution target
Create an Environment and a Session with your own native model connection, then use a model ID served by that provider or gateway. A Platform trigger always targets an existing Session and model. Events cannot override that target, model or the saved instructions.
Each accepted event uses the ordinary Run queue, credit checks, Project budgets and checkpoint flow. Multiple triggers and Sessions still serialize execution within one Environment. Use separate Environments when tasks should have independent workspaces.
Create a trigger
In the console, open the Environment’s Configuration tab, then Inbound webhooks. Choose the source, execution target and instructions. You can also use the API:

default Sandpi error.Error body application/json
Standard error envelope containing a stable code, diagnostic message and request identity.
| Field | Type and constraints | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
error | object · extra fields rejected | Yes | Structured failure information. Inspect the stable code and retain the request ID for investigation. |
error.code | string | Yeswithin error | Stable error code used to distinguish failures programmatically. |
error.message | string | Yeswithin error | Human-readable diagnostic text. |

error.loginUrl | string | Nowithin error | Authentication URL supplied when a browser login is required. |
error.registrationOpen | boolean | Nowithin error | Whether new account registration is enabled for this deployment. |
Example
{
"error": {
"code": "platform_balance_insufficient",
"message": "Top up Platform credits before submitting a Run.",
"requestId": "req_example"
}
}Replace YOUR_SESSION_ID and YOUR_SUPPORTED_MODEL_ID. Save data.webhook.receiveUrl and the one-time data.secret. Management uses your Platform key; event delivery uses the trigger’s authentication. Read/list operations do not reveal the secret.
Map data into instructions
Use {{event}}, {{deliveryId}}, {{payload}} or dotted paths such as {{payload.issue.title}}. Values become text or JSON; they are not evaluated as code. Missing referenced fields reject admission, so use fields guaranteed by your sender’s event type.
For example, a generic deployment trigger can use:
Investigate {{event}} for deployment {{payload.deploymentId}}.
Use read-only diagnostics first. Summarize the cause and proposed next steps.
Event details: {{payload}}Event data remains untrusted input. Configure outbound service access separately through MCP or egress credentials. Receiving a GitHub or Parseable event does not give the agent access to the sender’s repository or logs.
Restrict payload fields
Use optional payload filters to select labels, branches, severity or deployment status. Each filter matches one of its exact allowed values at a dotted payload path; paths can traverse arrays. All filters must match. Missing paths create ignored receipts without starting work. Numbers and booleans compare as text.
Test the whole flow
- Send one signed or authenticated test event using the source-specific guide.
- Read its receipt and distinguish
acceptedfromignored. - Follow its
executionIdthrough the configured Session’s Run API. - Inspect execution output, checkpoint and usage.
- Redeliver the same logical event and confirm it reuses the receipt.
